Week 4- Kindergarten

Alejandro’s Gift

What Comes in 2s, 3s, and 4s

Miss Bindergarten Stays Home from Kindergarten

This week I was blown away with how much we are loving our AlphaSkills books. Normally every single week we like all of the books but can quickly identify one as our absolute favorite, but this week we loved all 3 books so much that we couldn’t even choose a favorite at all! Alejandro’s Gift is packed full of learning about animals, water, and habitats, and it was so fun to remember this one from when Malachi’s older brother had it in Kindergarten. What Comes in 2s, 3s, and 4s is a great math book full of fun pictures. Miss Bindergarten Stays Home from Kindergarten is all about the Kindergarten teacher Miss Bindergarten and why she has to stay home from Kindergarten (a cold), complete with rhymes and word plays too.

The activity I want to highlight this week is the Art activity for Miss Bindergarten Stays Home from Kindergarten. My little Malachi absolutely loves art, so he was thrilled on Day Three to know that this was the day we would be learning and doing some art with Miss Bindergarten! First we read the book and discussed anything new he noticed in the pictures. Then we talked about how Miss Bindergarten’s students made Get Well cards for her and came up with a list of other occasions or times when it would be nice to send a card to someone (birthday, thank you, etc.). Then we pulled out our art materials and made a card for someone in our family who needed some encouragement, but we didn’t finish it just yet because we had to add the words during the Writing activity for Day Four. After the week was over we talked about the importance of sending cards to people who need to know someone cares about them, and we mailed our card to Malachi’s Nana.

I can’t even begin to measure all of the learning that happened this week! For more information about the AlphaSkills Read with Sarah curriculum and our family, see the AlphaSkills Blog Introduction.
